I agree with you that nowdays the exchange between different cultures is very common and that so long as people maintain their roots all is well. However this exchange can be considered a good thing as it has the ability to teach people about the different cultures, thereby ensuring that there is peace and harmony among the different races.

Yeah, my parent are also very old-fashioned. When i was little younger , i was watching MTV and they put some songs where girls are wearing revealing clothes and my mum would ask me to change the channel because she would say all that was dirty.My parent till today don’t really accept western culture.Maybe not yet

Cultures are always changing, because cultures are dynamic! I don’t think 10 years down the road, there is a possibility that the younger generation will remember or even know about our culture. For instance, my parents pray on the 1st and 15th every month on the Lunar calendar. Besides that, they also pray on some other days and there are many things to buy. I don’t know all these, neither do I bother asking. Moreover, media, for example the news, has been talking about the burning of incense paper and joss sticks contributing to land and air pollution. This, I believe, would give the younger generation an excuse not to learn about this culture.

i agree that how u look like doesn’t really matter when it comes to friendship. I don’t really care how my friends look like, i just enjoy their company.

Hi Sham! ((:

i can see why you would disagree with relationships formed based on exchange. Such relationships, i would say, are very superficial. It is true that the reality is that people will flock to you when they need you or have a use for you, however you won’t see them sticking around during the other times. Such relationships are hardly substantial, and in no way fulfilling.

But I guess that they are, in a way, essential, for example being put together to work on a project in school or at work.

However, in my opinion, people who actually hit it off and form deeper friendship bonds would fare better in this “exchange” than those who maintain the relationship purely for the exchange of benefits. If you have deeper bonds with that person, chances are you will be more liberal in your speech and generous in your ideas as you are more comfortable with talking to that person, and more willing to share as you care for the individual. But if your relationship with the person is superficial, you will tend to hold back and be more reserved, and also want to keep some of your ideas to yourself and not share so as to keep a competitive edge over the other.

Thus, i think deeper friendships are much more important and necessary, as true friends will stay with you both through the good and the bad, as clichéd as that might sound. Which is why i am so glad i have you for a friend Sham! Hehe.

For me Simpson’s is classic))) I always woke up early, in order not to miss the show. Even though I watch it in russian I could understand that the language used is not very appropriate for children. But the show is funny)

I just love The Simpson’s, I’ve been fans of it for as long as i can remember.Yea i agree that the language they is sometimes a bit harsh for the younger generation, the itchy and scratchy show on The Simpson’s also show some violent stuff where itchy(mouse) and scratchy(cat) tries to kill each other.Its something like tom and jerry but a bit more violent.

I agree with you somewhat, because it’s always the eyes that give it away. When we lie, we cannot help the way our eyes are telling another story. Yet I feel that our facial expression and body language is a huge contributing factor too. The eyes alone cannot possibly tell a story. Together with our slight frowning and more, we complete the puzzle.
